Scenario
Two Irish orphans travel across America by train, encountering villains and heroes alike. They make an extraordinary friend and search for a new home, facing adventures and dangers along the way. The main character "Nick" is based on the director's son, Nico, who had the same condition. The film is dedicated to him, as he passed away in 2021. I loved this film! It's great to see a representation of a disabled child, which resonated deeply with me as I work with disabled children. The plot isn't very deep, but it's one of my favorite animated films in a way that's both heartfelt and funny. Some scenes, like the ones with the wolves and guns, were a little scary for my daughter, but not too scary. She loved the characters, especially the dog Sparky, who was a charming addition. In the best way. One of the best animated films I've seen in a long time. I agree with the other comment, much better than any recent Disney film I've seen.
