Later in the film, the restaurant scene and his subsequent words to Alcala: "I'm not going anywhere with you".

is an effective example of seeing the danger you face and saving your own life. In a patriarchy where women are still treated as second-class citizens, unworthy of dignity, respect and protection, we must be our own best protectors and advocates. Great film from Kendrick, I look forward to seeing more of his directing work. "What We Do in the Shadows" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
