However, on the way to the hospital, they reference a previous trip
Scenario
The crew of a horror web series travel to an abandoned asylum for a live broadcast. As they venture deeper into the nightmarish old building, they soon encounter much more than they bargained for. The filmmakers were unable to obtain filming permission from the South Korean government for the actual hospital, so the scenes of the film set in Gonjiam were actually shot at the National Maritime High School in Busan, with the production team sticking closely to the hospital's floor plan to recreate the exact same exterior and hallways. Early in the film, they meet for the first time at a restaurant.

In the shots where everyone jumps into the water, it's all the same faces who supposedly just met each other. *EDIT - they referenced a previous trip and then *everyone who had just met* jumped into the water. They talked about doing it and then they did it. No mistake.
They get a lot more than they initially bargained for, though
How much you get out of this Korean found footage horror depends on your attitude towards this particular subgenre. There's really nothing new here - think "Grave Encounters," but better executed by using modernized technology to live stream paranormal encounters. The premise is commonplace: a small crew from the horror web series "Horror Time" grab cameras to explore an abandoned and isolated asylum late at night for a live broadcast. The way the situation plays out is no surprise, but the atmosphere is thick.
One thing, though: there's no way you'd get me in there after midnight
Pure dread, looming shadows, and creaking noises engulf a dank, colorless place that will just swallow you up. It reminded me a lot of the tone/atmosphere of Session 9, maybe even creepier. After a slow start, the characters, chemistry dynamics and a bit of history of the asylum are introduced, including other thrill seekers who disappeared after entering the building. The whole thing works quite well right down to the obligatory shock moments and equipment failures.
Still, the moments we do get, and there are a good 3 or 4, are well-filmed, hair-raising thrills
What seemed simple at first revealed that the plot had a surprise or two in store with its paranormal loophole that revolves entirely around the haunted room 402. There were a few fairly effective scenes, but probably not enough incidents, which feels kind of dragged on.
