This was Regal's Monday Mystery film on December 9th
Scenario
During the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, an American sports news crew must adapt to live coverage when a terrorist group takes Israeli athletes hostage. I wasn't expecting it, and I hadn't heard much about it, but as soon as the film started, I was intrigued because I knew the story it was based on.
It depicts the events of the September 5, 1972 hostage situation that Palestinian terrorists perpetrated against the Israeli team at the Munich Olympics
This film doesn't deal with the politics of the situation, instead focusing on the ABC sports news crew who had to scramble to cover the events. It was well-told and extremely well-edited, with a combination of real footage from the event mixed in with the actors' performances.
I was very impressed with how it all happened, and I loved watching the story through the eyes of the news crew
It was interesting to see how they had to think quickly on their feet to cover as much of what was happening as possible. It was interesting to see the "behind the scenes" of the news coverage - even back when the mainstream news media was actually acting ethically.
Or trying to
It's not an action-packed film, but I was engaged the entire time and not bored at all. It's also a pretty short film, starting at about 90 minutes (although it felt longer because of everything that was happening).
